Nooooorway!

Dressed for a zodiac trip in Flam
I think I loved Norway the best.  We stopped in Flam, Stavanger and  Alesund.  The weather was generally good and the fjords were incredible.  It was by far more expensive than Iceland though!  I bought a coke, some chips and a chocolate bar and it cost me about £12!  Needless to say, we had all of our meals on the ship!  It was beautiful though.  I would love to see more of Norway.   In Flam, we went out on a zodiac boat down a fjord that is a world heritage site.  Seals poked their heads up around us and porpoises popped up here and there as well.  Beautiful waterfalls and tiny villages appeared around every turn.  Eagles flew overhead as well which pleased Taylor.  Everyone else went on a famous train journey but I don't think is was as good as the zodiac by the reports we heard.  There was a "mysterious woman" who kept appearing singing in a flowing red dress near a waterfall.  It sounded a bit corny.

Our boat is bigger than the town of Flam
Alesund was lovely too.  It is built on a very narrow outcropping of land which goes into the sea.  I can't believe they chose to build there.  Clearly they fear no tsunami!  The whole town minus four houses was destroyed by fire and completely rebuilt in the art deco style.  Apparently at the time of the fire, they had to release everyone from the jail and asked them all to return the next day.  And they did!  Nicely done.  While we were there, people from the ship had to be rescued by helicopter from the scenic lookout point due to their inability to stick to a path.  Fools!  Everyone enjoyed watching it though.  The town has such brightly coloured buildings with a lot of quint detailing.  It is all thanks to art deco restyling of the town.  We went on a coach tour that day but it wasn't much to write home about.  We went up a light house, ate a the streets of town.  We had a brief look around and headed for home.  On the final evening on the ship, we had the parade of the chefs at dinner time.  They walked around us and we clapped them.  Then we had a 7 course dinner!  It was pretty intense.  We were sad to get off the ship I will say that.  We have already started looking for our next cruise.  I think a little trip around the med is in order!  Here is the highlights of the Norway stops.
