Denied!

Arrgh! Everything appeared to be on track for my next trip outta town but my Visa application was denied. I thought this was the end of the world and was very upset about it for most of yesterday but it would appear that it might be cleared up in a few weeks time. I was going to leave at the end of this month and I will just have to push it back a little more than I have already done. It is frustrating that these little impediments constantly pop up. I am always torn between thinking that I am not really meant to go or that it is merely a test to see how much I really want it. I have adopted a ‘what will be will be’ attitude to keep happy.
I went skiing with Mel Klie last night and we had a lovely time. I wish I could have gone a load more this winter but it was not to be. There is still time for a few more trips though now that my leaving date is not so firmly planted and we have once again been dumped on by winter.
Concerts
I have been attending concerts like they are going out of style these days. I have seen the Trews, with openers the Spades and Speakeasies. They were playing in Kitchener. We also took in Martin Frye’s look of love tour at the centre in the square in Kitchener. I only knew two of his songs and because I had to file my taxes, I didn’t quite get there in time to hear one of those two songs. Haha. He wore a suit that was Home Depot orange. Delightful. I also saw Finger 11 in Hamilton a few days ago. They put on a pretty good show. I am not a really big fan of theirs but they did an excellent set of covers for their encore. That’s usually the best part of seeing a band anyways. Especially considering that I rarely know many of their songs to begin with. We drove to Hamilton with the assistance of Gloria the GPS unit. Gloria is a demanding but highly intelligent artificial woman. You just can’t make any errors when entering the pin code or you will need to drive back to your starting point to reset. We found this out once we were in Hamilton already so we weren’t all that impressed with her at that time. A few angry phone calls later we had her back online and directing us to the concert after dinner. I can’t say that I like Hamilton all that much. It’s not a very attractive town. I never made it to Hess Village though which is supposed to be the nice part.
A Good Book

We have a bunch of cookies at work which is pretty sweet. A listener brings them in once a month. I love the ginger ones. I am reading a terrific book right now that I will have to add to my shelfari listing. It is called The Troublesome Offspring of Cardinal Guzman. I didn’t think I would like it but it is excellent. It looks like a boy’s book but I have been recommending it to everyone. It did start to get a little upsetting though. I was tempted to give it the Friends treatment and put it in the freezer for a while. I have recently come back to reading now that I have gotten tired of the DS and am still riding the bus everyday to work. It is great to have an hour of uninterrupted reading everyday. I believe we called it USSR (universal sustained silent reading) at school which I always thought was funny. Once I started teaching I liked to right that into the class agenda when ever possible. If you are reading anything that you really like right now recommend it to me.
Health Issues Resolved

In terms of my health I am feeling better these days. The aches and pains have returned but they are minor compared with before and I don’t feel like I am losing my mind anymore. It is a pleasing sensation. I can stretch my arms above my head without feeling like I am breaking and tearing everything in my body. This also means I am back to the gym which I am happy about as well. Being able to work out regualrly makes me feel like I hae so much more energy than I used to. I think I will play myself when this whole health debacle is made into an episode of House.

The pictures today are of the carwash and Lauren and I abusing a bust in Hamilton Place. Good times.
