OK, this is my worst ever massive gap in the blog. Most of you have seen me since last I wrote and Matt has bitterly complained about the shoddy nature of my last update. He is right but I will never say this to his face! So since I went to Stonehenge and Bath I have been back to Canada and a little 3 day jaunt to New York. I had a great holiday and was pleased to see everyone back home. I have finished up my coursework for the year and am happy to see the back of it. It has been difficult to balance work and school. I was pretty stressed out with the last round of papers and I am happy to have a nice long break from all of that. I am going to try and keep things going on my dissertation but I am pretty much going to take a month off.

Canada Trip with Taylor

I came home with Caroline for about 2 weeks to expose her to Ontario in all it's early spring glory. Basically, it snowed for the first few days and she was sick for most of New York. New York was still pretty great though. We did all the tourist things. I particularly loved Macy’s. It was their spring flower show that week and all the in store displaces were covered in really ornate floral displays. It was really lovely. I also really enjoyed central park. We ate all these deli sandwiches that were so full of meat I questioned if there was any bread used at all. I loved that! Shockingly, the only part I didn’t especially care for was the Broadway show. We went to see Lion King and it was pretty rubbish. The child actors especially were a let down. Toronto and London did it way better. I thought a Broadway show would be the best thing I had ever seen! There was also a charity appeal at the end of the show that seemed really tacky.
We did a tour of lots of small town places. I forgot how weird the Mennonites can seem to people who don't know anything about them. They do basically live like it is a 100 years ago. We had several really nice sunsets. The weather was as unpredictable as always. The first three days it snowed and the rest of the days were gorgeous. I also saw the Elora Gorge for the first time. I know, I was really spoiling her with that one. I just didn't really know what we should see. We were just ahead of the season for all kinds of things. Niagara Falls was good for a little while. It is the tackiest town on earth but the falls are still quite spectacular. I always second guess myself when it comes to directions, so this shot of me agonizing over the map was probably a pretty common sight. Then of course there was the family reunion and unfortunately, Aunt Ev’s funeral. She was a lovely lady who did a lot in her community and for us all. I was really sad about that. I could only stay for the visitation though which we stopped at on the way to the airport.

Since I've been home, I have been the Imperial War Museum which I didn't think would be my cup of tea because I don't like to see things about the Holocaust all that much but it was a very good exhibit. They put the whole floor of the museum together really well and people were just moving quietly through looking at the video material. I wouldn't really want to see it again but I'm glad I went.
I may or may not be going on a school trip to Wales. I hope I get to go but it will come down to luck of the draw. If I don't go on the trip then I will need to take myself on a trip there in the near future.
This weekend I hope to go to Hastings on the coast because I haven't left London in a while and I feel like I need to get out of town. I’ve booked a train ticket and am packing some delicious lunch for myself. I’ll pop some pictures of that up on the weekend. I am going to get back to blogging!

"Tanks-a-god" for this post! I (and I speak for everyone who reads your blog) needed this quite badly. If it were easier to get a hold of you via phone, things might be different.

Very best regards,
Matt "Mr. squirrel-pants" Hayes, Esq, B. Mus, drunkard.
