Home for the Holidays
The cats have hidden their special Christmas hats this year I think. I had to recycle these photos from last year...
I'm back in Canada for 12 days. I am really enjoying spending time with my family and cats. I spend a pretty regular amount of time petting them. My cats, not my family. I am trying to visit as many people as possible while I am home. I am supposed to be doing some serious university work as well but haven't gotten too far with that just yet. I just want to have a holiday where I do nothing. I will probably freak out when I get home and realise that I still have to do it. There are two papers left to write and a bunch a reading to do. I also recently got a Play Station 3 which is soooo much fun. Not very conducive to university homework completion though. I have just bought myself some new games which I will not allow myself to open until the papers are finished. Well maybe just one.
The Concert
I finished off the school year 2 days early. I had the big Christmas concert with the kids on Wednesday and then went home the next day. The concert was a success but I don't think it was well photographed. I didn't have time to take any pictures myself. We had African drumming, orchestra, band, rock band and the choir. It was a good show. I think it is a good launching point for the music programme. I think the kids didn't have anything to shoot for until recently. There were very few opportunities for them to play so they felt like they were practicing for no reason. That didn't actually make them do a whole lot of practicing at all. Hopefully that will change for some of them. I want to try and form a string quartet in the New Year as well. It is fun to mold this programme into something good.
Misc
We had a crazy amount of sow and cold weather followed up by a bunch of rain. I hope it doesn't drop down because it will be a skating rink out there. I took some photos of snowy squirrels eating at the bird feeder. It all looks very Christmassy out there. Also of note, the 1st great grandchild has been born in the family. I think everyone but 2 or three of us were born in December so it is no surprise. Melissa had a baby girl early this morning potentially named Verity. The spelling of that may not be correct. Everyone is very excited. There is still one more new baby to come in the New Year as well. There are babies every where these days. It's very exciting.
We will be staying home for Christmas day which is nice. The roads are always crazy anyways. I hope you all have a safe and happy holiday where ever you may be. I will try and use this holiday to catch up on correspondence with everyone. Drop me a line and let me know what you are up to :o)
